Recycle Street

Enhancing the recycling experience

Recycle Street aims to provide a viable alternative to landfill and promote positive recycling and waste disposal behaviours within the community.

The design concept uses the familiar urban language of a typical shopping strip with the various recycling options presented as individual ‘shops’.

The core idea behind the Recycle Street design is based on the conceptual notion of ‘Reverse Retail’ where goods are returned to the recycling ‘shops’ on a self serve basis.

Customers using the self-service Recycle Street can quickly identify where to place their recycled goods with each item clearly colour coded according to type of material such as cardboard, mixed recycling, car batteries, and hazardous chemicals.

Waste and recycling centres audit reports, brand identity, signage manual, signage design and construction drawings.Behind the user interface the operational logistics and spacial requirements were carefully considered. Recycle Street will ensure that space is effectively utilised and all recycling is done at the same point.

Scope of work:
Waste and recycling centres audit reports, brand identity, signage manual, signage design and construction drawings.

Each module is colour coded and specifically designed for the type of waste.

Modules are perfectly aligned and clearly labeled.

A system of wayfinding signage was also created to deploy in the entire facilities.

A tailored suite of colour-coded symbols helps identify types of waste.

A signage manual was produced for further implementation in other waste and recycling sites.
